Benelli TNT 25 Review

Overview

DSK Benelli's most economical offering in the country, TNT 25 is going to be a tough competitor for all the street fighter's around. The decent looking bike looks a bit like the KTM 200 Duke but has a lot more to be offered than that. After a long wait, Benelli has finally launched the TNT 250 in India for INR 1.68 lakhs (ex-showroom Pune) for the model with MRF tyres and INR 1.75 lakhs (ex-showroom Pune) for the model with Metzeler tyres. Benelli TNT 25 is available in 2 shades - White and Red.

Design and Style

With a very basic and common design it seems sometimes to be lesser on the style part, but the white and red combination of the body with the mono shock and its frame makes it a goal scorer every time. Its decent looking alloy wheels matches its body structure and overall it becomes a noticeable element on the road.

Instrument Console

Benelli has featured a smart looking, semi digital instrument console for the TNT 25. It has an analog rpm indicator in the center with digital speedometer, digital odometer, digital trip-meter at the right side, and gear indicator and other lights on the left side.

Engine and Performance

The TNT 25 is powered by a 249cc, single cylinder, 4-stroke engine which is liquid cooled. It produces 28.16 BHP @ 9800 rpm and 21.61 NM @ 8000 rpm. It has an electronic fuel injection system for more precision in fuel usage. The engine is mated to a six speed gearbox. The engine has not been heavily tuned as it produces the same figure as by other 250 cc segment bikes make. The 200 cc KTM Duke would be its main rival and rest depends upon the success of the TNT 25 in India. The company claimed top speed of Benelli TNT 250 is 145 kmph.

Suspension and Brakes

The Front suspension is a upside down telescopic forks and the rear being a mono shock absorber. The braking is being handled by a 280 mm petal disc at the front and a 240 mm petal disc for the rear. The combination is quiet impressive as the quality of materials used would be top notch and no lag would be seen in the suspension and braking part. Benelli TNT 250 is not equipped with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System).

Comfort while Riding

The TNT25 would be a comfortable ride as the seating position is quiet normal and the seat height being the lowest for a naked street bike. 780 mm is a quiet impressive figure even for those who have an average height. The suspension is a nice one which will take over the obstacles of riding and Benelli has given enough braking power for the time of emergency braking. Overall, it would be a smooth riding experience. The 110/70 R17, 54 H (Metzeler) | 110/70 R17, 54 S (MRF) for the front and 150/60 R17, 66 H (Metzeler) | 150/60 R17, 66 S (MRF), for the rear enhances the road grip and brings a smooth ride every time.

Mileage

The most important positive factor for Benelli TNT 25 is the large fuel tank which has a capacity of 17 litres, making it suitable for longer rides without caring much about the petrol pumps all the time. It can return mileage of around30 kmpl which is a standard 250 cc category mileage.

Shades

The TNT 25 was displayed in only White shade at the time of official unveil but after its official launch in India, it is also available in Red shade.

Ex-showroom Price

Benelli has launched TNT 25 in India for Rs. 1.68 lakh (ex-showroom Pune) for the standard model with MRF tyres and Rs. 1.75 lakh (ex-showroom Pune) for the premium model with Metzeler tyres. This price tag makes it a strong competitor for the other naked street bikes in the segment like KTM 200 Duke and the upcoming Kawasaki Z250SL.

Verdict

If the price would have been around 1.5 lakh, the chances of victory would have been doubled. No doubt, it’s a high quality offering for the 250 cc naked category; it has the potential and the craze for international brands in the people which surely ignite its future.
